Eastlake Football Club takes best club gong two years running
Eastlake Football Club has taken five out of a possible seven awards at this year’s ClubsACT Awards for Excellence, held Friday, 14 May at the Hellenic Club in Woden.
The annual awards night showcases the best of the best in the Canberra community club industry, serving to recognise clubs for their work in the community and services provided to their members.
In front of almost 500 people including ACT Chief Minister, Jon Stanhope, Leader of the ACT Opposition, Zed Seselja, and other representatives of the Legislative Assembly, Eastlake Football Club dominated the Medium club division winning awards for community assistance, promotion of sport and human resource management.
However it was securing the prized Club of the Year award for the second year running that caused the biggest buzz around the club.
Eastlake Football Club Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Ratcliffe, says winning the awards are testament to all the hard work done by the staff, management, the board of directors and the myriad of people connected with the club.
“We have a great team here at Eastlake Football Club that is united in working towards providing the Canberra community and our members with superior service and superior facilities.” Ratcliffe said.
Ratcliffe said the club was also delighted with being awarded the Margaret Spalding Award for Community Assistance.
“The clubs industry in Canberra is based on giving back to the community and Eastlake Football Club believes whole heartedly with this philosophy,
“We’ve built a strong relationship with the Pegasus Riding School for the Disabled and have committed over sixty thousand dollars over the past three years to help fund their volunteers programs,
“We also work with numerous community sporting organisations and other community based charities including Lifeline and the ACT Spastic Centre,
“Our drive is not to win awards it is to serve our members and the Canberra community,” Ratcliffe said. “However it is always nice to be recognised for your hard work.”
